Danny Ings - Yes or No
A complete Yes from me.

As we know every year we bid for the 'chosen' one until we don't get them (Thanks GSBOUT) and settle for second best, sorry 5th best or nothing at all.

Aside from his injury history, I think Danny Ings would do a solid job for us (if GSBOUT would sanction the £15m fee....)

Thoughts?

Another target we’ve missed out on

Re: Danny Ings - Yes or No
Last 3 seasons Premier League Starts:

Ings : 26, 32, 23
Antonio : 24, 19, 22

So 2 years ago Ings had a much better season than Antonio in terms of PL starts. But either side of that it's very similar.

Wetting yourselfs over Ings next it will be over a geat player going back to WBA.
Plus
Ings shouldn't have a beard like that at his age .

Re: Danny Ings - Yes or No
I don’t think Villa would have been paying 25 million for Ings if they didn’t already know they had 100 million coming in for Grealish.

Re: Danny Ings - Yes or No
Strange one really.

25 mill sounds a lot.

But another player at a similar age with only a year left on his deal is Lingard and we seem keen to try and sign him.

If anything we need a player like Ings more.

"a player who is only slightly more reliable than Antonio."

PL games missed through injury in last 2 seasons:

Ings - 5
Antonio - 25

I'd say that's a fair bit more reliable. Even if you go back to the last 4 seasons it's Ings - 15; Antonio - 41.

Re: Danny Ings - Yes or No
Good points re injury.

If you can get him on the cheap then worth the risk, but we can't afford to take such a gamble on a player who is only slightly more reliable than Antonio.

In terms of ability he's absolutely good enough and would score enough goals for us.

But 25m is too big a risk for us.

Aston Villa with 100m in the bank and with a young goalscorer already in their team, can afford to take the risk.

Good striker but do we need a striker that misses as much football as Antonio?

Re: Danny Ings - Yes or No
£25m for a proven premier League goalscorer and you've got the WHO faithful happy we've missed out.

Part of the reason we will never move on from the make shift strikers and loans to buy are because of fans like that. Happy with the shit we have.

Ings is a proven natural goalscorer, wish we would sign one.

Re: Danny Ings - Yes or No
Great signing for Villa. £25m for a proven Premier League goalscorer with at least three seasons left in him is a great deal. Southampton did well to get that amount with one year left on his deal, but fair play to Villa, they’ve just paid what it took to get him. Totally out of the blue too.

Understand Man City will sell Bernardo Silva .... more his choice to go.
If I was Pep I'd sell Sterling as well.
Reckon you could get £100m for those two and pay for Grealish.

Re: Danny Ings - Yes or No
£25m is not much in this day and age. 3 good years and they get their money back.
Villa have bought well and will adapt like any club would.
if we lost Rice we would but 3 good players but it seems like time is running out for us to buy anyone.
City could be Englands front 4.
Sterling,Grealish,Kane,Foden

Re: Danny Ings - Yes or No
They have spent the money on Buendia , Bailey & Ings when he had one year left.
Reckon each fee was £10m too much and those coming in while Grealish goes out weakens them.
The whole team revolved around Grealish as was shown when he was out last season.

Understand they made a couple of bids for Smith-Rowe but suspect the kids agent was just showing 'interest' to pump up the new contract he has just signed at Arsenal.
Have also bid a couple of times for Ward-Prowse but cant believe Southampton will entertain a sale having cashed in on Ings.

Utter waste of money, they are spunking the Grealish fee up the wall.

We will finish above them this season.

He chose Villa over us?

We had a bid accepted then, Pee Wee son?

Re: Danny Ings - Yes or No
The football world know we’re not a good place to play football.

Danny Ings said he wants European football yet chose a club not in Europe over us a club that is.

On first viewing that looks stupid. But look below next season and he sees a club with long term European aspirations in Villa Vs us, a club that will be in Europe for a few games and not again for a number of years.

Who in their right mind would choose to play for us?

Re: Danny Ings - Yes or No
Agreed stepney although a significant injury will turn that completely on its head.

Fair play to Villa, Ings and Watkins are quality strikers. Makes us look two bob unfortunately
